Tattoo Care and Advice

BEFORE THE TATTOO

Get a good sleep the night before your tattoo appointment
and be sure to eat a healthy meal an hour or two before the tattoo session. A large glass of juice will help.
The process of being tattooed takes energy and often stresses the body like vigorous activity.

Do not drink alcohol or take aspirin before you get tattooed as they can thin the blood
and cause you to bleed heavily during the tattoo process.

If you have any allergies to antibiotic ointments, latex or petroleum products,
be sure to tell your tattoo artist before they start to do any work on you.

WHILE BEING TATTOOED

Bring your music player and earphones.

Be sure to ask your tattooist to stop if you have to cough or sneeze.

If you know have to lay down to get tattooed,
you might want to bring along a favorite pillow or a blanket.

Some people bring along a friend for support.
Ask ahead of time to make sure your tattooist is okay with guests.

NEW TATTOO CARE

1. KEEP IT COVERED - 2-3 hours at least.

2. Run warm water and soak to peel sticky bandage off.

3.Wash gently with anti-bacterial soap and pat dry with paper towel.

4. Thinly coat with unscented moisterizer (aloe vera, lubriderm...etc.)

5. Avoid all hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes and excessive stretching
or excercise for at least 4-5 days.

6. Keep it moist by gently massaging in a thin layer of moisturizer
every 3-4 hours or as necessary.
Do not let it dry out or stick to clothing and do not pick!!!!
or roll off scabs!!!!

Initial scabbing flakes off after 4-5 days
but an average tattoo takes 2-3 weeks to heal completely!

Touch-ups can be done when the tattoo is healed; typically 3-5 weeks later.

Keep it out of the sun, use sunblock, moisturize often
and you and your tattoo will look great for a long time.

Individual healing and reactions will vary slightly.
